DolledbyDomo was created from a journey of self-acceptance and learning to embrace natural hair as an extension of self-love. Like so many people with curly textures, I learned that hair is deeply connected to confidence - and that caring for it starts at the scalp.
What began as a personal journey grew into a mission: to create natural, scalp-focused products that make healthy curls possible, while fostering self-love, confidence, and open conversation within the natural hair community.

Born From My Journey
Hi I'm Dominique
Like many in the curly hair community, I grew up struggling to accept, love, and properly care for my natural hair. As I battled, hid, and damaged it, I also struggled to feel confident in my own skin. What I didn’t realize at the time was that the root of my hair journey was deeply connected to my sense of self.
Being mixed shaped much of that experience - intensifying feelings of otherness and highlighting the emotional and social weight that hair can carry. My curls weren’t just hair; they were tied to identity, belonging, and confidence.
Everything began to shift when I decided to invest in myself. I started researching, experimenting, and learning what truly worked for my hair and scalp. I began formulating products in my own kitchen and deepened my understanding of hair and scalp health so I could create products that were natural, clean, safe - and most importantly, effective.
Through that process, I realized something powerful: healthy curls don’t happen without laying the groundwork. They begin at the scalp. Once I focused on building a strong foundation, my hair transformed - and so did I. My curls became part of my identity again, this time in an empowering way. With them came the confidence to show up fully as myself.
From that journey, DolledbyDomo was born - a space to share the care, knowledge, and products that made my transformation possible. We are a scalp-focused brand for wavy, curly, and coily hair, creating the foundation healthy curls need to thrive.
